usually the place to ask about these random things
wanting to record some tunes ive made on my four track onto my laptop, using the mic input on my laptop.
anyone know a decent programme to do this with? preferably free (although you never get something for nothing nowadays.)
hopefully someone has done this. any help appreciated.

its free and exports to mp3

You wont get the stereo sound if you use a mic input will you? Line in is the one you want mate

was after a quick reply. sorry about that
yeah line in would be the best bet, but my laptop only has mic and phones inputs. has everything else but a line in 
usually mic inputs are more sensitive? hope it doesnt distort.

mic inputs are usualy mono, the left side IIRC! Plug some headphones into the mic socket and talk into the head phones. If only one side picks up sound then its mono! like i say its usualy the left. If both pick up sound then you're dancing mate. Just use a lower volume so it doesnt distort though

how come with audacity it isnt letting me change my input source? its just a frozen box that doesnt have any input source?
maybe a plug in i need or summit? wouldnt have thot so tho?
