think the one your after is the x18xe,xe1
from vectras i think, if ive got the code right then no mantzel wont fit as the ports are waaaay bigger than the 1.6. uses the same mounts as the x16xe/c16xe though.
the pistons are of excellent design on them aswell.
have a look on migweb at lee303's project thread. he's using one in his nova

The small block 1.8 is the Z18XE or X18XE1, NOT the X18XE or C18XE, they're both big block.

Lee's not using a standard engine though TBH 
Mark, I'd say, if you're after easy power, go for a C20XE.
If you want something which you're going to throw a few grand at to make a crazy engine, get an X18XE1.
C18/Z18XE just isn't worth bothering with in standard form IMO.

c18xe is a rare engine these days. I have never seen one or even sold parts for one.
x18xe is much more common.
