Right brakes are shagged... think my nearside is like now even wore its pad out so no metal...the disc's need replacing...so as i get paid on thursday im thinking of upgrading to either:

1.) may just replace the original discs and pads
2.) grooved and drilled EBC's with green stuff???
3.) Maybe upgrade to 2 litre brakes??? the may be an 2 litre XE lump in the future???

just one problem not sure what these options are gonna cost me?

Anyone got any ideas or advice?

Will 2 litre brakes on a 1.4 sport be a total over kill as wont be getting an XE for another year yet

Cheers Rob

If you can afford 2 litre brakes, go for them!

nope go for a standard 2ltr set up. You can pick up calipers cheap enuff. then get GM disks and some mintex 1144 fastt road pads
Will be a million times better than ebc/greeenstuff etc.

Cost £20 from a scrappy, maybe £7 on new seals.

Disks?
Pads?

Thats the best thing to do.

2.0 brakes from a scrappers - £30ish. You'll probably need new discs and pads also.

so what wud the difference be in buying the 288mm 2 litre brakes than going to LMF and buying their big brake upgrade kits 288mm plain discs which im guessing are EBC by the look of TV ad?

Just get a Set of 2.0 brakes of a Cav,calibra or astr Gte as they were 4 stud..

The 288mm ones are turbos ones aint they and the 2.0 ones are 256mm ?

i got my 2.0 calipers for 20quid from the scrappy and were in awesome condition...New pads lookin at 20quid and Disks around 40quid as thats roughly what i had....But the pads are the most importing thing tbh...Dnt get EBC or greenstuff as they crap...

Mintex or Foroddos(sp) IMHO

Edit this was my set up on the Xe corsa and were Brillaint...256mm

Look on migweb for the calipers or even ebay as you could be lucky and get a full set up for really cheap...

right so 2.0 litre brakes wud be best option then..ive seen some hispec setups at esp is it...its in TV? :S they are 288mm disc package without pads...so cud get sum miltek pads of green stuff or woteva...question is wud these be any gud if i was to plock a 2.0 XE lump into it in the future???

cars aint got ABS either...so is it a gud idea to uprate the brakes to a 2.0 litre...started saving today

2.0 256 mm disks will be perfect for it. they will also fit under 14s. (just so you know)
I have a 2.0 corsa on 2.0 brakes and its good and also its running on 14" steelies just now.
