Had the slight shaking issue since i got the car really. Never really been a problem. But now i have a ticking noise and getting a bit of grey/black smoke Is there any special oil i can use to help solve this?

The car is only on 18k, was expecting 60/70k before i started having engine problems. It's not been crazy ragged and has had 3 oil changes since i've had it.

Might be time to trade in as it's not worth spending a grand on an engine rebuild

Black smoke can indicate overfuel which can be down to air leakage after its been metered, might just be leaky hose or something.

Not sure about the ticking though. What oil you using?

Esso oil apparently. It's semi stuff. Think i'll change the oil and see what it's like then. It's only smoking from cold but ticks all the time.

Can anyone recommend a good make oil to use?

Andrew if u look at your owners manual u will see a heading engine oils on page 212 saying (We recommend using Vauxhall engine oils with the following qualities and viscosities SAE 5W-40 and SAE 10W- 40 depending on outside temperature ).

5W-40 is good for temperatures between -20 to 100+ °F
10W-40 is good for temperatures between 0 to 100+ °F
