Petition the Prime Minister to Get rid of the Section 59 Warning.

Details of petition

There is just no need for the section 59 warning, all it is doing is giving power happy police the chance to do anything they like. If you commit an offence and it can be proved, there will be an offence code for it which to deal with you by, If it cannot be proved then you are either innocent or the police are not doing their job's properly, either way how is it fair to punish you for an offence that cannot be proven? The section 59 is just blanket cover for the police to do what they like without having to prove anything, although there are no instant penalties for a section 59 being 'awarded', you can be given a rather large fine or worse on being given your second section 59. I say get rid of the section 59 warning to stop the police exploiting innocent road users without proof!

If you commit a motoring offence - likkkkke pulling handbrake turns in the snow in an empty car park in the middle of a field at midnight, the police give you a section 59 and then if they catch you doing another offence (speeding), they can have you car crushed.

tbh online petitions just seem a way to collect 1000s of email adresses to be sold on to marketing companies

S. 59 are brilliant!

And re: the offence that cannot be proved - well it can on the officers oral evidence.

They don't hand them out for no reason!

the thing thats bad about a section 59 is its recorded on both the driver and the car..

So if you get a S59 then sell your car and the new owner gets one it gets crushed with no warning.

The same happens.. if after selling your old car you buy a new one and get caught again with a S59 on your name you new car gets crushed..
