Bought a new steering wheel, so need to remove the old one
From what I remember you disconnect the battery & leave for an hour so there's no power to it
Then undo the 2 screws in the back of the airbag. Unclip the airbag from the wheel
Then undo the nut in the centre of the wheel, leaving it on a few turns.
Then what? Pull? Push? Punch? Hit? Headbut? What?
Is it literally just a case of braying the fuck out of the wheel untill it pops off? Or is there a more tactical approach I can take?
Other option is take it to Vauxhall? But they might charge a fair bit for this as it's Vauxhall & there usually badgers
Or get a normal garage to do it?

all of the above correct, but when i did mine i snapped of the part of the steering wheel (its in my project thread somewhere) and it took me hours to sort, some kind of pulling device would make life easier

get a garage to do it if its tight (which 9/10 times it will) they use a puller which gets it off easily

Take the bolt the whole way off, lean seat back, kick steering wheel hard on each side and the wheel will spring off. Done it loads of times

How likely is this air bag to go off?
Unscrewed it, just giving it 30 mins before I unclip it

when i changed my wheel for the irmscher one, i left it for 20 mins and handled it with care thereafter, it shouldnt go off unless it's dropped or knocked about, but of course will still carry charge even when disconnected.
just go easy with it and dont point it at anything important... lol

i dont have the irmscher badge, mine was originally fitted to a '98 tigra...
i think the ones with the irmscher badge are more recent, from say -astra/zafira/agila with the same 3 spoke wheel...

Right
Airbags off & out safe
Undone the 22m nut & took out that bit of metal that goes behind it.
Now kicking the shit out of the wheel - nothings happening
Tried the kicking thing but didn't work. If I keep kicking Im not going to do any serious damage am I? Like collapse the steering column (Are they collapseable?)
Am I OK to keep hitting it?

put the nut back on so if the wheel does pop on it doesnt spring out and hit you in the face (WICH JUST HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO) thanks shaun lol..
i was taking the wheel off and left the nut on slightly and looked away and he took it off so when i give the wheel a smack it twated me in the nose
So anyways use the nut, get hand at the top behind the wheel and get your knees behind at the bottom and smack it evenly. should come off

Took them out, looks like there for the airbag ring? It was attatched to something green tat sits directly behind the wheel
Weird thing is that the new wheel doesn't have the holes there?
I'll go take pics to illustrate

Yes, no screw holes in it though?
Also, no holes for the puller on the new wheels?

No
Getting the wheel off isn't the thing that worries me as I can always buy a GM pants puller thingy
Im more worried about the screw bit. No where on the new wheel for the screw to go? Also no holes for the steering wheel puller should I ever want to take it off
On the plus side, I think it looks fuckin ace
