1.4 and 1.6 have the same bore. They have a different stroke, hence the bottom end needs changing, not the top end.

They have a different bore and stroke.
The bore difference isn't massive, about 2mm iirc.
But it IS different.

Meaning a x16xe head on a x14xe would drop cr.

Im pretty sure thats how it is though.

End of the day, i've not got any of the engines anymore to have a look anyway. Im jsut going off what i remember from when i did look into it all (had an X14 and wanted to turn it into a 1589cc, but by the end of it all, easier and chaper to go for a redtop )
