Atm i currently have a 1.4 16v (x14xe). I am wondering if it would be worthwhile doing a coversion to put the 1.6 16v (x16xe) engine in. My 1.4 currently has an inlet manifold and an induction kit, decat and janspeed manifold which can all be used on the 1.6 engine.
What sort of power would i be looking at with the 1.6 with them mods??
Also i was wondering as the engines look so a like would anyone be able to tell the engine has been changed?? if not i would be able to keep it registered as a 1.4??
Also wondering about costs, is it only the engine i have to change or do i ahve to change, brakes, suspesion and gearbox??
how much do the engines cost to convert??
many thanks sorry about all the questions

i wouldnt bother converting from a 1.4 to a 1.6 really mate. IMO its just really not worth it. i found this out when doing mine. started as a 1.2 then swaped the car for a 1.4 sri an droped the 1.6 that i had give me in an didnt notice a great deal of difference so put a c20let in

i think the x14 -> x16 is worth it.
i had a 1.4 corsa, went to a 1.6 (couple years younger etc as a cheap upgrade), not expecting much of a gain, but was suprised by the difference, especially low down torque which makes the 1.6 a lot smoother and nicer to drive.

I agree with will 100%.
I thought the 1.4 to 1.6 upgradee was better than the 1.6 to 2.0 upgrade.

My money is on 130 bhp. But it'll depend on who's RR you'll use.

You'll struggle on 0-100, as 1600's tend to run out of puff at about 80/90.
0-60 probably about 8.
