imo i think people who dont no much about IT will find it very hard to start out and get some where quickly,

ecdl, theres college course's but nothing is better than hands on experince

its worth doing if u no much about PC's its a piece of piss im right in thinking you do like so many sections for level 1 and so many for level 2 right?? a great way to learn about PC's is forums

but id probably try and do a NVQ mb the easiest way do a NVQ 2 and then a NVQ 3??

Nice to have but it won't teach you anything vaguely specialist. I think if you were applying for something and they ask for it then you should get it, but if you want a career in IT you'll probably want to progress faster than that, ie. find a harder course.

Have a look on the net/local paper at what IT jobs are around and what sort of qualifications are needed for each job.

Will give you more of an idea of whats around and what possibilities there are.

I did the ECDL course cos my work paid for it and passed it. It baicallly just shows you have a basic understanding, and i doubt that the advanced course is a lot different (but dont no)

As people have said go for something like NVQs etc if u want to progress further

Its best to work out where you want to go in IT as there are so many roles you can do then you can think how to get there.
