This doesn't rule out the fact that McClaren is a waste of space though

I personally thought Lucas Neil was the greatest ever player.

Quality for you is a good squad player for us. And BTW its more than 30mins!
Suppose its swings and round abouts, seems we bought your 'crap' (Masch) who got 30mins in 6months and then started him in a Champions League final

sorry that was a crap way of puting it accross
we do have quality players, then we usally sell them, and now one of our main players see's it better to be a bit part player instead of the first names on the team sheet
masch was allways quality, we just didnt know how to use him, and in a struggling team, it was the worst way from him to be introduced to the prem

Thats what happens when you nearly go down - players would rather go and player for a big club than be handed more money to play for a shite one
He has actually played really well lately, and think he will start gettng some more games as the season goes on. He hasnt been helped with the form of Pennant though, who has been amazing so far this season.

wasnt that we nearly went down
he came out and said he was happy with west ham, had shaken on a new 5 year deal, then something changed his mind...

Challenging for the title, playing in the CL, playing for Liverpool generally

Maybe the fact that he never seemed to have the backing of the manager and was in a team in decline made him want to sign for a quality club?

I am psychic, I said I bet rio scores off this corner to my mate last night
Good result imo, hope mclaren keeps barry in the team now he's played really well
JR, I know it's hard for a WHU fan to understand but when you play in europe and still want to win the league aswell you need a strong squad and good players will wait there turn if they know they can be part of a winning team

I'd personally fit the forward line to be Rooney and another.
Owen will score easy chances like he did last night, but then again any semi decent player will do. Saying that, Owen is the kind of player he needs off him (i.e. on the last man and with pace) but Owen seems to struggle unless he has someone big upfront to win headers - this could be down to the fact England do play the long ball 99% of the time (starting from Robinson who I think I have seen play a short ball out to his defenders once in his whole career!!).
Until Rooney has someone who can use his talents upfront he wont be as effective up there as he should be. But I dont see any young players coming through (other than possibly Wallcott but he isnt getting a chance) who can do what he needs.

Team in decline, ah yes, the one season decline, we are a much better team now ?
and backing of the manager, genrally a 5 year contract is seen as backing IMO ?

yes but i cant see why a player would go from beeing a star to a bit part player in a massive squad rotation policy
look how its worked the other way round, bellamy was a bit part player, now one of the first choices on the team sheet
