The reason the stuff you listen to isn't commerical is purely because it's shit. There's no other reason.

I love how these "budget rappers" do it in their bedrooms, like that Necro cunt and say "I hate those guys in the charts, they're so commercial" - hmmmm, yeah right, like he wouldn't take a slice of the pie if he had any talent

So true. I love you Brett.

Nobody in the UK can relate to real hip-hop and you look like a queer listening to it, FACT. At least the likes of 50, Kanye, etc. have good beats and are well produced.

As for saying no one in the uk can relate to hip hop- I agree- we cant relate to that bulshiiit fake manufactured hardman bling bling image because thats all it is--- image.

Good production and beats means fuk all if what is coming out of their mouth is a load of fake gangstar/pornstar garbage.

I'm pretty sure most rappers aren't 'fake', most of them have come from some sort of poor background.

I think its quite sad that you havnt read the thread properly....... no one is saying that everything thats mainstream is shite- and it would indeed be very dumb.... but luckily no one is saying that.

Not if hes talking about republican politicians being corrupt in america - when most major american tv and radio channels are owned by republican voters and donaters. A major record company in america will censor what you write about.... you can not cause offence that would harm the companies image. The same with film makers. How many hoolywood films do you see that are politically controversial -- The money in hollywood is republican money therefore you can not cause offence or embarrasment to republicans with your films.

So if you want to make a highly controversial album or film you will not be given the fredom to do this with a major record label or studio- thats why some artists do not wish to go major--- add to that the fact that other people will be making millions of pounds off the back of your work.

Why would any artist want to be censored?

Maybe thats because the mainstream is clogged up with loads of manufactured money making crap. Its not a modern problem... the mainstream has always been a year or so behind the underground scene. Look at any genre of music - punk for example - by the time record companies understood it, and understood how to make money out of it - the people who like it originally were bored by the whole thing and embarrased to be associated with it... then you are left with a watered down version that is lapped up by the pop buying masses.

Its happened with everything - garage, happy, techno, house, drum and base, ska, dance hall - name your style. It starts off under ground and is great- then you get one or two big cross over artists that move the scene into the mainstream, then record companies flood the market with loads of manufactured rip offs, and all the good stuff goes underground again

IMO its like this:

I hear a good track, I like it, no matter who its by. I listen to it once every few days for like 4-5 months

Once the radio gets hold of it after 4 months (Galaxy is bad for this), they play the same song every 50 minutes

after 9 hours at work and 2 driving with the radio on for 2 weeks, I do not want to hear the same song AGAIN when I get home, so I start to dislike it on this reason

I call it "commercial suicide"

great and all that.... but.... why would you dislike a song purely because lot of other people like it.

people should focus less on how the music came to be and just enjoy lisening to it, whos cres if its mainstream or not.

it is very small minded to not lisen to music purerly beacause its popular.

music these days is crap, everything is too overmarketed and people are making music that dont really have any talent and are making it big.

look at music back in the 90's it was loads better than what you hear these days, and the music industry is at fault, look at the charts, you dont even have to sell one CD and you can be top of the charts ffs
