Anybody know the going rate per m2? Also how much would it usually cost for somebody to lay it? About 50m2 in total.

easy as piss to lay it yourself, someone would no doubt cost the earth to do it though!

I know its easy mate, its gonna take me the rest of this week to get it prepped ready for turf, but then I am gonna be too busy for a while to actually turf it myself.

With the price of (even shitty!) general labourers these days they'll charge some silly amount to do it at a guess.
Only way to know for sure would be to get out the old yellow pages and ring around.

£2.50-£3 a meter if you do it yourself
looks like you might need a bit of topsoil aswell

LOL, just had a bloke round to gimme a quote, to supply and lay the turf, no prep work required at all, £900 for a days work!!!
Just ordered the turf myself for £230(top quality aswell) and gonna do it next weekend.

I said they'd charge a fortune.
My sister got 3 quotes for laying a smallish patio and creating a barked area so she could put a swing and stuff on for her sprog. Few days work at most, nothing hard to do...they were all over £2k when they came in

I had a quote from a couple of people to do all of the work in my garden, averaged out at 9k, ended up ordering all of the materials for £1800 and me and my brother in law did the work ourselves in the space of a week.

Gypos are the way forward. They have been doing a few odd jobs for people on my street for next to nothing and the workmanship is as good as if you'd paid a so called professional. Granted you'd only let them work in your garden instead of the house as they'll rob you but isn't that what these people who charge 2k for 3 days work are doing?

tbh, I'd rather pay a 'pro' 2k than a gypo £2, regardless of quality.

A gypo only accepts jobs so they can scope out their next targets.
If they see a decent bike in the garage, or mower in the shed they'll be back for it that night!!

Bloody hell £900 is extortianate!!
My garden is 80 foot long and 20 wide, think it worked out about 200sqm....
I got someone in to do it for me, he brought about 20 tonne of top soil to level it a bit more (my garden is on a slant) and the turf and I paid £650.
Turf alone was gonna cost me about £500.
£230 seems expensive for 50sq m but you have gone for better turf. We just got the 'family lawn' one.....still looks lush though now

It was a proper jungle before so got a digger in to clear it all
Then this is the turf half layed, round the back of the garage wasn't done on these:
The missus asked for some garden for our young 'un to run around on when he can walk....poor little lad is gonna be knackered running up and down that! Gonna get some footy nets for each end

update, done the corner of the garden now, took some digging and topsoil
left a border round the edge for plants but need some topsoil to fill it up a bit
