My room has woodern beams everywhere so Iassume I'll have to bolt it to that to mount my screen?
The screen in question is a Sony 40", any clues on whats the best mount to use?

Yeah sonys website should have the particular mount for your wall.
You need the mount to screw into brick or joists(sp) in the wall or it will fall off

get behind the wall and put in some joists where you wanna put the tv, then while your at it you can run the cables in the inside of the wall aswell to hide them all, then just a case of patching it up a bit off filing and taping then re paper it or paint it

They are VESA bracket compatable.
You will need to look at the holes on the back of the TV.
Thats what the screw holes look like on the back of your TV.
Holes 7.5cm apart = VESA 75 bracket
Holes 10cm apart = VESA 100 bracket
Holes 20cm apart = VESA 200 bracket
Make sure you buy a VESA mount that can handle the weight of the LCD

Ebay, I got a nice sturdy one for 30 quid.
We've got a 100 quid vogels one for the living room but i don't see the point in paying the extra tbh.

exactly what i was thinking, just don't bother with the sony ones, i priced some up and they weren't far short of the price of the TV

why go for the extra expense mine came off ebay, rated to hold up to 79kg, £16.
it is just a big bit of metal after all.
what difference does an expensive one make.... nicer bits of metal? not worth extra £50+.

not really because you have to take into account, age, engine, milage, running costs, looks, ect ect ect.
when it comes down to it with a bracket your paying for a bit of metal the only other options are swivel and tilt, in the end you can only charge a small ammount for these options after that your just paying for the brand.
my bracket off ebay tilts and swivels and cost bog all, why do sony charge so much when in the end it does the same thing no one can see it behind the tv and its just...... a bit of metal.
