a while ago there was people ranting about gettin rocker covers that had been powder coated and things going wrong with their engines.

i m goin offshore next week,and my wheels,rocker cover,cambelt cover,and powercap are away to be getting powder coated and i m wanting info to tell the boy before i go away,cheers.

dont get the underneath coated

and dont get it blasted either

why not blast the underside of it?

no, dont blast it genrally

and daz, the blast material will then be all inside, and no matter how much you clean it it will still get into the engine and then fuck your oil pump

i have shit loads of pictures that show that to be true, sadly, and a repair bill for nearly a grand. all froma 40 quid rocker cover

you can blast them but with beed blast no sand blasting! and make sure you take the plate out from inside the rocker cover. other wise when u go down the road it'll shake out the excess grit and fuck your engine! oh and never powder coat the inside of a rocker cover! i learned the hard/expensive way!!!!

blasteds fine just make sure you clean it before you put it on. which you should do

ive glass beaded a rocker for an impreza not so long ago

no problems so far

i've always been told not to powder coat the engine cover because it warps it, i had mine painted and it has lasted for up to now

That would explain why they didnt do the underside of mine then, assuming you had it done where you work?

you should never get the underside blasted, you will never removed 100% of the blast material

i've seen one that has been powdercoated and the cover no longer sits perfect as though the heat has mis-shaped it slightly, so i was told just to paint mine which i did.

yer some customers insist on haveing the inside blasted but tell them its at there own risk.
we learned the hard way with this, but thankfully it was with my engine and needed a rebuild anyway!
