mine's not working, I can barely see what I'm typing
I've pressed the light 'up' button, and it's done nothing.

Put a high powered torch round the back of the screen

Mine went on one of my old ones just outside of its warranty. Had a look into fixing it, decided it wasnt worth it so had it connected upto a screen until I got myself a new one.

look for replacement screens tbh. alternatively get hold of an old monitor (go down the tip and ask if they'll give you one)and plug it into your laptop and press the button that switches it to the monitor, should be F4/5 or something similar.

I bet you'd turned it off with a Fn + F Key combination didn't you?

Nope, it's actually broken, wouldn't work at all whatever I tried, so I'm borrowing another laptop at the moment, it's quite snazzy, although the keys are slightly different to how my old ones were, so I keep pressin up instead of shift

Take out the HD and get yourself a cradle for it (bout £15) so you can get all the crap off it

I got a new screen for my laptop for £15. Just look for ones the same as yours being sold for spares or repairs, and do it that way.

Could be the invertor or backlight(s).
