The last bit made me laugh though...

After hitting him the guy said "I'm sorry Fergie, I didn't realise it was you."

But almost immediately afterwards he held out his arms and started shouting: "Fergie, Fergie, shut your mouth."

15 months, not bad, wont serve half though probably

The reason that the sentence is that severe is almost certainly because of the racially aggravated assault on the PCSO rather than the assault on SAF.

Only reason he got 15 months is because SAF was involved. If that was just a random that got his they might have got a couple months or even just got off in the end.

A high profile case where they are trying to say look at all the good we are doing

i think, you will find, its the 146 other convictions and the racist remarks/headbutt he gave the pcso that made it more severe a sentence
