DONOT use solder..... its a poor way of connecting wires

1 the joint can go dry and crack - effectivly a broken wire

2 the joint is also a corrosion point as there are two different metals in contact - high resistance

crimp connectors are fine - is close to what we use at work..

Aye, it's all happening over here.

Well, got little bit of an update for you guys. After a couple of weeks of trying I have finally got the gear linkage sorted. It was an absolute bastard do to and I should have just made my own instead of trying to be all clever and get the m-tec short shifter.

But anyways, got all of my intercooler pipework sorted, checked the engine over again and decided it was time. So put some oil in the engine, and the gearbox. Some coolant in and water in and fired her up. Turns over well, but not getting a spark? I had missed a couple of earths, so I did all of them and tried firing her up again, still not spark???

Time for the local specialist to come around yet again, I think his words were 'you have butchered ya fucking wiring loom, nob head'.

Yes, so apparently I have wired it up all wrong, so he has to get his data logger and find out how to join all my wires back up and find out if I have fried my ECU. Oh aren't cars so much fun

Well anyways, it's nearly there now so here are some of the latest pics to look at.

Finally had it running the past few days, but I think I have had enough with it already. It won't stop boiling over, and this is before it gets to 100c. So it must be an air lock somewhere.

First thing I was going to do was to change around the heater matrix pipes, but I have been told that on a corsa it does not matter as long as the pipe from the side of the head goes to the heater matrix.

So then the same guy told me it would probably a airlock in my thermostat, and to drill a tiny hole in the plate inside the thermostat to let the air pass through the system without it having to get hot enough to open the thermostat. If that makes sense?

Well I have done this, but it still keeps boiling over before it gets to the 100c mark, sometimes well before.

What the fuck is wrong with it? Anyone?

run the engine up to temp then remove the coolant bottle cap. run it till it bubbles over for about 20 seconds. let it cool down, top up coolant when cold.

You wern't jokinh when you said old fashioned, is that not going to be a little dodgey for my engine.

I wouldn't think 20sec would be long enough to do any damage but just asking.

Now then, long time no post. Just thought I would give you guys a little bit of an update on the Corsa.

It is actually built and finished now. But it has ran out of tax and MOT, which I will be renewing in a couple of weeks when I come back home from working away.

After being stood a long time it was noisey bastard with the tappets but hopefully they should start freeing up with a little tickle of the throttle, if not then it is some new tappets me thinks.

So today I have just been fitting my AEM wideband and some SA lights, but TBH I'm not quite sure on the lights

before

after

well I wasn't quite sure myself really, but i'll clean the car up and give them a chance for a couple of weeks then see if I still think there a bit dodgey.

Next to come is MOT prep and fitting my whiteline rear ARB

TBH I can't remember exactly what was wrong. It was only stupid little things. An earth on the engine, dizzy was rebuilt wrong, some wires were worn etc Nothing that took too long anyways.

ive always done air locks by letting the car heat up till the water rises in the header, sometimes it flows over, then it all dissapears usually, then thats the time to top it up.. done.

Well I tried it that way a couple of times and nothing seemed to happen. Then oneday I just came to start it up and it sorted itself

I've had my whiteline ARB lying around my room for a while now, so thought I might as well put it on the car while I can still be arsed. Didn't take long to fit, just a pain in the arse if you don't have any ramps and your by yourself. Here's some pics for you lot thinking about getting one anyways . . . .
