seeing as the house is currently 100% empty it's a great time to do things like run Cat5/6 cables throughout, wire in LCD TVs in walls etc
I was looking at sorting it all out so I have 1 PC, 1 sky box and 1 DVD player/library in the home in a rack under the stairs and then either fixed remote controls next tot he light switches in the front room/kitchen/bedrooms or something like a Nevo remote (http://www.mynevo.com/)
Has anyone done this? I know some systems cost £5k+ but I think if I got the right kit I could do it for half that, which I am willing to pay (minus price of TVs)
I guess the best point to store it is under the stairs, what would you do first ehilst house is stripped?
Digital ariel in loft, send signal to box under stairs and then out to each room, small switch under stairs fed to CAT5/6 cable points in each room (wireless is OK but no a fan for longterm desktop useage/streeming)
any other ideas I could look at?

wiring up a whole place, even if your doing it yourself, wont be the cheapest. Granted you can take all the external equipment, but if your wanting full control like your talking in multiple rooms then the wiring/fitted control systems arent going to come cheap.

bought most of the wires today and a few sockets, came to less then £200 which was good. Got the cat 5 ones for free. Was happy with that
