Fulltext would help you here.

Firstly you wouldn't need to split the query. Then the results would be ordered by how many words were present so you would get the green arosas first, then other arosas and other green seats, then other green cars.

swapping my ors for ands did the trick, but oddly seemed to make the query a little slower, the difference is millseconds so i can live with it, but will need to keep an eye on it
