I've seen these xbox wireless adaptor thingy mabobs in the shop and was wondering what i would have to do to set up some sort of connection with my dads wireless router? Do i just plug the adapter in and go on search or something within the Xbox menus?

just plug it in, go to the settings panel -> connections -> auto setup add your network key if your router has one and it does it autoatically.

How do you know if the router has a network key? I've got a Sky netgear router.
EDIT: Also, whats a good range from the router to use Live on? I'm only planning on using Silver for the time being so i don't need amazing speeds for gaming.

Don't buy the official Microsoft thingy. Just get an ethernet bridge.

The wireless adapter i saw was in GAME. Can't remember if it was a proper Microsoft thing but it was £60 or so.

yeah £60 is the official wireless one, there is no 3rd party usb wireless device that works for the 360.

however, like brett said, if you want to do it cheaper buy a ethernet wireless bridge, can be had for half the price.
