Hi,
I currently am running:
infinity components in the front (off HU)
JBL GTO 6x9s in shelf (off HU)
Vibe CBRA120 Active sub (built in amp)
this is a great setup but the mids and treble are not (obviously) keepin up with the sub. So i got a 4 channel amp yesterday; its a JBL 4 channel amp. So now i am running two amps
the 4 channel is 35wrms per channel
the Vibe is 400wrms
i also purchased the autoleads fuse thing that allows you to "split" the live so you can run two amps, thing is i rigged it all up and everything comes on fine BUTT........ when i turn the HU up ONLY the JBL amp cuts out. Now what sprung to my mind immediately was that the live cable running from the battery that was previously only running a 400 watt amp is now having to carry power for two amps and obviously fails so do i need to just get a better gauge (think thats right) power cable?? i have checked the grounds for both amps and this seems fine, i also just cut into the remote wire and split that manually into two wires. is it ok to do that?
thanks for any help
Dave

for the remote, run it as it was 1st time, then run another wire from the vibe amp to the JBL. Yes, use a larger guage cable, but no, dont get it from halfords, i work there and its fuking expensive, try a local ice shop

so the reason for the JBL amp cutting out is cos there isnt enough power coming through the cable for both amps?? (it was a shitty amp wiring kit)

will a 8 AWG cable do it or would 4 AWG be better
i think i was running a 10AWG cable before
i heard that the 8 AWG can accept up to 720 watts and both my amps come to 550watts, so this should be ok, :S

Halfords should have 4 AWG in stock by the metre. Sextons sell it, is there one near you? Or look about for a local ICE shop. But, dont get it from halfords, we charge £6.99 a metre, i paid less than that for my zero guage!

are you sharing your ground from the VIBE built in amp? Try relocating it if you're not. If you are, it will cut out, dont share the other amps ground. Ground them both independently.
