just been to see my mate who's got a garage and he rekons £600 labour time to drop the engine rebuild it and put it back in.

and i would buy all the other parts, cams etc

which engine would be best.

1.buy a x16xe

or

2 use the x14xe engine i have in the car

also anyone did the turbo conversion to a 1400 or a 1600 engine.

i could do this conversion for about £600-£700

whats you guys opinions??

I'd want to know what his "rebuild" entails, why it needs it.

X16 will always be the better engine, more cc, more torque, more scope for tuning.

Turbo conversion has been done a lot of times. Good way to get power, but not the most reliable.

I priced up a turbo conversion. To do it properly and reliably your looking at about 3K. Excluding fitting parts.

Depends how deep your pockets are and what you do to compliment it.

well he can get the conversion kit for about 800 including the new head and would be included in the cost for the rebuild.

that rebuild cost of 600 is only labour costs thats all. cams etc are more on top of that.
