Should England get through to the European Championships in 2008, I have a feeling we could have a situation like that of France 98 where Paul Gascoigne played a very important part in the qualifying but then got shockingly left out the actual World Cup squad.

I feel that it could be the same for Beckham. Yes he's a great player but the guy will be pushing 34 by the time the finals come along.

Thoughts on this?

I reckon he'll be in the squad should we qualify. Wether or not he plays a large part or not I'm not too sure.

its only in about 6-8 months isnt it?

No reason why he shouldnt be included, his experience of big games/situations could be just as valuable even if he doesnt play much.

Anyway, unless Pennant is fit their is no one better than him at the moment.

On the flip side of it. Both McLaren and Beckham will know that it'll be his last big tournament so he'll want to go out with a bang.

This could be said for both Beckham and McLaren i guess

He'll get into the squad, I doubt - while McKnob is manager (which isnt too much longer) he will ever play though.

IMO If hes fit he plays as he creates soo many chances. You only have to look back at big games and hes probably played a aprt on more goals than any other player.
