just done my x14xe to x16xe conversion, am about to fill out the form to say that it has been changed, will dvla accept just the form or do they need other paperwork to prove it?

also is my current tax and mot still legal?

Sometimes they accept them and just send a new logbook back.
Sometimes they ask for evidence.

Mot yeah as that doesn't show engine size.
Tax is until you get your new logbook, you'll then have to send your tax off for a refund,and re-tax it as a 1598cc engine.

Tax won't be because it'll be more expensive now, your insurance will be invalid too, but the MOT will be fine.

They won't ask for any paperwork, but the insurance company might want an engineers report.

DVLA asked me for evidence.
I had to pay for a inspection to confirm the engine number,code and cc

Going up? I know they do if you go down from 1.6 to 1.2, but I've never heard of it going up, because they would have no reason to care?

If your increasing the cc of an engine then they dont ask for a report as you are increasong the tax duty so they are happy

All you do is fill in the v5 stating the new cc and new engine number and date of change take it to your local dvla office and they will process it you will also need your old tax disc as they will issue you with a new one and as you are increasing the cc then you will have to pay the excess of the new tax disc

You will then recive a new v5 with in a few weeks witha all the new details on it

Where as if you are decreasing the cc

then they will prob ask for a report as you will be claiming for cheaper tax

You will also have to notify your insurer off the changes

Im sure you could but that would mean waiting for a new tax disc meaning you couldnt drive the car untill they send the new one out

Best way is to go to your local office and they do it right away issuing you with a new tax disc meaning you can use the car straight away

You need a V14 form for the tax disc.

i went to the dvla as they needed to inspect the car to make sure it really was a 1.6 from a 1.4....... bloke didnt know what he was looking at

Yep, they ask when increasing cc too.
I still have the letter here dvla sent me.

Every time ive done it they just swap the disc for another with the same date but with the new reg

And never been asked to provide a report

ive even changed from a diesel to petrol before and its always been straight forward to change over

I must just have a decent dvla office where no1 gives a fook
