on having a new stereo installed, the digital clock display-
hh:mm l dd:mm:yy l --.-oC
seems to have gone a bit wonky.
when the keys are in ignition but stereo face not on, the time and date appear but no temperature, only --.-oC. when stereo is on i only get the time showing and no date and still wonky temp reading, although, date reappears when changing the time/date then disappears when done changing.
anyone any ideas on how to fix or is it a simple case of a loose wire somewhere?
its a 98 corsa

You need to cut a wire in the CD player loom to get the date to stay...cant remember what colour it is , try a quick search, this has been covered before so that should turn something up
As for the temp...it sounds like the sensor is fubarred IMO, its located behind the front bumper, in the middle, common fault. New one from vauxhall will set you back about £6

my date goes off if playing cd's and goes back on if the radio is on, i think in the corsa handbook it does that as standard

Aye because the wire that makes the date come on and off is the same wire that powers the in car aerial booster.

If new sensor dont change the date thing apparently you can re-solder the wires and that makes it work

Your looking at your headunit wiring harness..... not your car one.
You need to cut it behind the ISO block for the car.
In your headunit loom.... cutting the blue wire or blue with white stripe works.
