IMO, as phones keep getting more and more complex and expensive I personally think that the link bbetween handset and phone contract will disappear... I think people will purchase their own 'phones and then sign up to a contratc seperately... much cheaper contract to allow for higher phone cost
N95 8GB for example you cant get free on anyhting less tan a £40 a month contract even now
Only downside is the mobile companies cant then utilise new technologies as well as they cant dictate what phones are out there

to be fair robbo, the british public wont pay for phones any more as they have been free for so long so subsidies will continue, which IMO is stupid as the problems and shortfalls fraud etc with it are massive.
