hi, i'm new to this forum. i tried to install a dbilas inlet to my x14xe, i put everything together apart from the air mass meter?? but the car wont start, would it be the air mass thing stopping my car from starting or did i unplug something else by accident? any help would be great as i have no car right now! thank in advance! btw it ticks over but doesn't fire!!

X14xe's dont have mass air flow sensors.

They have a air temp sensor if i remember rightly?

Why cant u just hook it back up?

sorry air temp sensor then! i cant do that cos i had to cut the plastic tubing to remove it form the engine bay as it wouldnt come out and it had a 'D' shape where i would connect it to the throttle body, instead of the circular shape needed!

Then you have either unplugged something else or have a serious vaccum leak

Air temp sender wont stop it from starting anyway.
Check the plug/vacuum hose on the map sensor(green plug on the firewall)

it should start if there is a vacum leak but it will rev high rather than idle. does your eml flash or stay on when you are trying to start the car. have you pluged the vent valve back in and map sensor, i had the same problem and it was an earth fault from the existing throttle body i earthed it on the bolts for the plate where the old throttle body used to bolt on, it was an injector earth point and the injectors wouldnt fire
