Is it illegal to have a turbo timer fitted come MOT time as you're not meant to leave a car unatended while it's still running are you?

garages quite often leave cars running unattended before they do the MOT to make sure they are warm

That's like asking would your car fail its MOT for being capable of exceeding the speed limit

cars can fail mot if it carys on running whith the ignition switched off. FACT
but as its the turbo timer thats keeping it running other than the engine overheating so much that it carrys on igniting without ignition, Youll be ok

He questioned the legality of having it fitted, not the operation of it during the test

it keep's the engine running to circulate oil around the turbo to cool it & to help prolong the life after a drivin the car

More of a gimmick really, you don't need one just drive off boost for a couple of mins after driving the car hard.

Turbo timers are pointless. Just drive the last few miles off boost or let it cool down when you stop!

i read something the car only needs to cool down for about 5 secs or so, not 2 minutes like some seem to think including myself.

With the Evo's I used to drive off boost for the last 5-10 mins of a journey, never any problems. As someone said, just a gimmic, not worth the hassle of fitting it.

I live a mile off of a dual carriageway! The timers also got a digital boost gauge built in, one of the main reasons i bought it as i dont have to start molesting my interior to fit a gauge
