Burned out one of my monitors tonight. Left the Windows XP setup running whilst i went for a couple of drinks. Now have some text permanently on the screen
Anyway to fix this apart from sending the monitor back to the manufacturer?

I always use a screen saver or switch mine off if leaving for long periods.

Screen burn is almost non existant on lcds, depending on age try and get warranty replacement, I know dell replace for that.
Screen savers were for ancient crt monitors.

It does happen though or something similar and is not always reversable. It's not worth the risk if the manufacturer or shop does not accept the claim.
