No reason why a GOOD built engine can't make just under 190bhp @ flywheel. I've spoken to Swindon who used to run the Forumla Vauxhall (open wheel single seater with XE's). People complained about the lack of power, so they made some adjustments to the cams (like put new ones in ) and they were running around 190bhp without any inlet modications.

Thanks for the comments about my car people.
I agree that the power does seem a bit optimistic. When picking up the car from its rebuild I questioned them about the accuracy of the reading. Their reply was that the RR has been recently calibrated and is reading correct. So who knows lol
The RR session which Neil is planning should show all.

my mate had that car before you and it wasnt never that powerful, you do any mods since?

When I brought the car it had a RR reading of 176bhp at the fly wheel.
However it had a major oil consumption issues and *very* low compression over all cylinders (piston rings were shot) and other wear problems, hence why I decided it was time for a rebuild.
It also had a standard 1.2 exhaust system on it then  !! Vernier pullys were not set up either
Lasty it looks like the MAF was faulty for a very long period of time so it was fueling terribly (probably why the pistons rings were nachard)
All sorted now though
