Very nice cars, my mates got a white one which looks very
My xe would beat them to 60 and only after that would they start to pull away. See them everywhere around my way so im usually having a play with one.

They were only doing about 15-15.2 1/4 mile @ pod the other weekend, which was surprising.

Well all the ST's are the same engines, the 1,2 & 3s are only specs (leather seats etc..)

Lovley cars, the kiddy next door (hes only 18) has a brand new white one. Looks amazing.
But your right K2 GTI, 'off the lights' there probely no quicker than a gti. He was cainning it through the lanes and could'nt pull away from my clio sport.
I recon once moving at like 60 mph+ it would be a different storey though

ITs the weight. People forget this.
The astra weights 1393kg + driver etc.... Focus isn't much lighter.
I've always said the modern hot hatches arn't special at all up to 60mph, pure weight and traction.
50+mph rolling though up to 120 odd and they pull nicely.
Bit concerning how you've got a brand new car and are already seeing how fast it goes?
Anyone meet any of these cars on a motorway or road from 40mph up, esp in a saxo, pug, standard engined corsa, u'll have your ass handed to you.

I never used to like them but now I think they look better than Astra VXR. The engine makes a great noise. But I think the wheels look a bit odd, cant seem them aging very well.
Undecided on the facelifted Focus, all cars are starting to look too high at the front with huge headlights. Prob something to do with new safety laws

traction is the key to standing starts and why the old Rs is still quicker as it had limited torque in the first 2 gears to aid traction

no this was my point... Astra VXR has done 14.9 (with OJC at the wheel) and mid 14's... so suprising to see the Focus ST is a lot slower than the Astra VXR. as on paper, their weight + power seem similar.

On paper there times are different though. although you'd think the ST would have a slight advantage due to having an lsd.

Focus ST is much much slower on the road than the 15 odd bhp suggests. Put two Corsas together with a real 15bhp difference, and it would be closer.
Dunno, maybe its just the gearing on the ST's, but on the road they are visably slower than the VXR.
Think the best i've seen is a 14.7/14.8 from a standard VXR. You wont get a mid 14 from a standard one no chance. Even tuned ones are only doing that.
Just bottom end they suck ass. When rolling though, its not bad.
On paper, it suggests the Focus is nearly as quick as the astra, and it is top end wise, but in gear acceleration is a different ball game, the focus just looses out all the time.

Ok(ish) cars, just too heavy and too thirsty for my liking!
People miss the point its an overall package and standing quarters are not the end all and be all of a car.
For me its the Focus RS any day of the week
