right, i was told by ascar that i would need a big bore centre pipe on my td rather than standard size to get much noise out of it, said it needs to be big on a td so the sound can resonate. any truth in this?

ok....
Drive through long tunnels... noise lasts longer, hence you believe your car actually sounds good for a diesel

Kris i had a straight thru pipe put on my 1.2. It was exactly the same bore as the standard size. It was so noisey I sold it because I could drive around without attention and listen to ICE properly. It gave lots of pops too on downshifts but it was so bloody noisey!!! I'd say it RUBBISH that you need a bigger bore! Its noisey just because you cut out the silencer the pipe diameter shouldnt have a lot to do with it but pipe diameter will effect back-pressure which IS very important to get right. Unless you have a chip to tweak everything with then i'd stick to the standard diameter- i think it about 45mm?
