just get a decat and reducer made up, that what I did, my Magnex on the Corsa had a huge bore for some reason and all Lee did was weld a flange onto the 20XE manifold and mate it to the exisitng system I had on my 1.4 16v. the fact the I bought the system back in 2001 bought second hand and its still on the car to this day, just shows! System must be pushing for 8-9 years old

Any way back to the original post, my initial comment wasnt aimed at you as I have a general hate for custom exhausts as they will NEVER be as good as a decent off the shelf item thats had hours spent on design and testing.
Unless its a Haywood and Scott or BTB item I dont really belive custom exhausts are that great as they all use generic boxes for example I do belive that powerflow/longlife/Cobra FRANCHISES (thats what you are Dave lets be fair) use the same boxes and pipework and quality is as the discretion of the branch/worker.
I love you
But, although I agree with you about custom exhausts with regards to powerflow and a lot of home made systems, there are companies out there who do awesome custom exhausts. Ollyhewitt had a great system on his nova.
Forgive my stupiditty on what they were called, but its a mendral??? system? Not just a peice of pipe twisted into a corner (as it reduces the internal size of the exhaust where the pipe has been squeezed for the bend), but a properly cornered exhaust where it isn't squashed.
But then thats the difference between a £200-£400 custom exhaust, and a £800-£5000 exhaust system.......
BTW, the best exhaust "looks wise" i've seen is that blue one on page one with a standard looking 1.5" ish sized tailpipe. I'd want that, but facing slightly downwards like the Touring cars have. But as said, poop system.
I got my powerflow purley for looks, as lets face it, a corsa is not a performance car But I still love it, but fundimentally the system is shite as its one of those "squeezed round a machine" exhaust systems.
I also wish I had gone 2.25" instead of a standard 2" exhaust bore, but wanted to keep back pressue due to silly sized rear cans But its faily quiet, I loved it, and it looked the dogs titties dangles (IMO for the bum brigade)

There will always be people that claim that custom systems will never be as good as an off the shelf system, but that is untrue. Most of the off the shelf items are limited in design options and often dont fit perfectly, again depending on the manufacturer.
Custom exhausts can be a lot better than off the shelf items as well, especially on cars with modified engines where they have special requirements. on road acrs we use Cobra Sport silencers, on the more off road orientated vehicles we use boxes made by a company called birchells, they have been making exhaust components for the motorsport industry for 40 years, each silencer is custom made to our requirements. If anyone can tell me what is wrong with the following system parts compared to an off the shelf item, please do:

all components were fully designed, bent and fabricated at Vsport.

Surely if they have been in the game for 40 years their spec for boxes will be best? Why do you always have to make everything you do sound so special!?

yes, thats why we use them they dont da a standard size/shap/density box so they make them to what we ask for.

For those of you that are interested, I've just received a quote from JP exhausts for an XE corsa system from the manifold back, 1 centre silencer, backbox and tailpipe and the quote was £340+vat (approx) which I think is fairly reasonable
