when i get to the higher end of gears the cars stops gaining power and the engine management light comes on and the only way to get it off is to come off the accelerator for a few seconds and then go back on it again!!
Anyone know what the problem is???

A sensor of some sort. Try the paper clip test, do a search for it.

air flow mass sesnor
willing to bet money on it 
if you rev to near the limiter it mite start to go mad the rev counter will go up and down and it will lose power?

cant do the paperclip test mate.
most likely gonna be the airflow meter, its a common problem on these engines
|
