How much would you say it would cost? Rough price for someone to suply and fit a new head gasket?

Not sure if it matters but its a 1.2!?

Also is it a failure on a M.O.T if the head gasket looks like its on its way out? Also on my dash its coming up with the engine light? Head Gasket is all creamy? So maybe this might be why?

It will only fail the MOT if the head gasket problem affects the emissions.

Well i got an M.O.T due at the end of the month, the speedo doesnt work but thats not a failure? The gasket is on its way out. . . Well its looking all creamy on the cap! I dont know anything about cars so i would be useless doing it myself and when driving the front left of the motor at the left wheel makes a "duff" sound! The slower i go the slower the sound the faster i go the faster the sound! Its not a majour sound something very minnor!

i was qouted around £400-£450 for it to be repaired from several garages around the south wales area.

head gasket set
cylinder head skim
cylinder head bolts
timing chain
tensioner
timing cover gasket
sump gasket
thermostat
water pump
anti freeze
engine oil 10/40 semi syn
oil filter

all came to £651.76 total including VAT.

1.2 16v engine.
god knows how much of that you would need to replace the head gasket.

I had a head gasket go on a x12xe 1.2 16v. Had it reskimmed and repaired for £400 but the block was warped too so i decided to get a new z12xe fitted instead

My mates just done it himself on his Saxo. Halford parts came to about £70 on trade. £35 at the local engines place to get it skimmed. So just over £100 if you do it yourself.
