You got them stored on the phone or memory card?
As above transfer from phone > card or card > phone next time they come back and then transfer to your pc.

Can you copy them to a memory card or bluetooth them to another phone/PC?

Your gonna have to try and catch them when they appear or have you used the Sony Ericsson PC suite to check the directories and folder of the phone?. That usually shows them all even if the phone is being a bit dodgy.

Phone fault, I had an issue on my S700i a while back but it was the memory card. I had to format it and reinstall the phone firmware. You could update the firmware. Generally it does not remove the data stored but with your phone being funny then I wouldn't advise it unless you can back everything else up.

Download the sony ericsson update service and follow the prompts. Make sure everything is backed up first, apart from the pics
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/corporate/support/products/updateservice/w580im
if this fails or no new update is available then you want to return it to store or ring up network for a new one/repair if under 12 months.
