got a security light you can 'borrow' for a day?
i found lying one flat (light down) free'd the stuff up great
i used this and a heat gun and scraper.
used the lamp to start heating the next bit of tarry stuff before i attacked it with the scraper heat gun combo.
i mean one of them security lights that comes on when you walk past by the way

Ain't got one of them, so I guess it's hairdryer and a scraper, how do you get rid of the residue glue that's left?
Replies so far appreciated, thanks!

Good to know! Think I'm all set, could have done with a heat gun instead of a hairdryer but hey ho.

Hair drier will do naff all
Buy/borrow a heat gun or a massive halogen work lamp, heat it up, then scrape it off with a DECENT wallpaper scraper (a crap one will just bend, it needs to have some strength to it) clean up the residue with tar/bug remover.
Or you can freeze it and it'll chip off in chunks

Halfords type place, no more than £25 I wouldn't have thought.
You're better off buying a decent work lamp, you're more likely to use it again.

I have a work lamp but it's only a screw type 60W bulb on a cable, one of them clamp lamps.
