I hop on my bike, maybe once a fortnight or every 3 weeks or so and go for a cycle with a smallish backpack on.
Sometimes take a mate, sometimes go on my own. Bit like you when I have the camera around my neck - nervous I suppose - but chuck it in the backpack and no-one knows what you're doing

when i was taking the pic in my avatar some woman came up in a really posh sort of agressive voice and went
'excuse me, what are you doing with that camera?!' I thought oh great she is gonna acuse me of taking pics of kids or something, i said 'im photographing this car.' She then goes 'oh ok, i thought you were bird watching i was going to ask you about this one i've just seen.' and wandered off.

I spent 90mins at a train station last night with my tripod taking long exposure shots.
I got a few odd looks but who cares. It was bloody cold though.

My worry is what adam_b mentioned earlier, if your in a public place where there is children, i am always careful to point the camera away. Peopleknow your not taking pictures of kids but its just easier to avoid a confrontation.
I will be cycling as soon as the weather picks up and i have a very smart backpack designed for a camera and its goodies

when i go out photographing i dont care if people are looking.
The only people that piss me off is when you get the perfect shot/angle, and someone turns around and looks straight at the camera with a stupid face lol.
I used to be nervous, but i found when doing my uni work, the more confident you are, the less people 'notice' you if you get me.
A weird shifty looking photographer is more suspect than someone looking controlled and confident.
Just be up your own arse while out haha

i go anywhere and everywhere.
I normally see soething, take a pic on my phone, then head back out with the proper camera later at the same time another day to see if i can capture it again.
Depends what you're after, if you're just a hobbyist if thats a word, just look out for stuff that interests you.
When i go out taking photo's, i always look at my surroundings as if im in a picture book if you get me, so i get composition and positioning into my thoughts

i jus enjoy taking pictures, i do need to learn the camera alot better though and understand the settings so that i can make quick adjustments whilst out - adjustments that i know will get a better picture.
