Town Boss Mick Harford resigned himself to Luton's fate yesterday, although disappointed that he could not keep the badly depleted squad in League 1, saying that it is probably the best thing for the club overall to regroup within its means from the bottom tier and work back from there.
Harford said:
'It is probably the best thing that could have happened to us as a business. I'm going to build a new Luton Town, bring in new footballers who want to play and have passion.
'I need a clear out, there are some players I don't want to be here and some that I do. Players here still have long contracts that I need to sort out. The salaries at this club are ludicrous. What's gone on at this club has been a disgrace.
'I will turn it around and make this club great again.
'The kids are in the squad at the moment because there is no-one else but they have done very well.
'I've got tremendous belief in the consortium - the Club is in good hands.
'I know who I haven't wanted for weeks and we have a list of around 70 players we want in.
'We've got a duty to the team we are playing and our fans to go out and still try and win games.
'It is probably the worst thing that has happened to me. I haven't had a worse hurt in my career as I am feeling right now, not as a player, coach or manager. but there won't be any doom and gloom from me.
'It's the beginning of a new era.'
The last time we were in League 2 / Divison 3 I had the best season I've ever had as a fan. Plus I should easily hit 60 new stadiums by this time next year
'If you're all going to Shrewsbury, all going to Shrewsbury, all going to Shrewsbury clap your hands'

All of them are no longer with us
The revolving exit door has been in full swing this season
The people that might have said that robbed us of £13million and are now under investigation by the Football League. I'd sooner believe Steve in saying the 360 is better than the PS3.
