Mines knocking on the 1.4 sport...

Has anybody got a walk through guide to aid me fitting it or should i take it to a garage?

Ive bought a universal boot from the local dealer for £6.

Hard job to do?

Cost to pay?

If it's knocking it'll probably be the CV itself.

jack up car, support on axle stand
remove wheel
remove hub nut (32mm?)
remove the 2 lower balljoint to lower arm/tie bar bolts
pull hub assembly forward and remove cv joint end from hub
gram driveshaft and pull out of box (oil my drip out of gearbox)
remove clips holding on CV boot and pull boot down shaft
using circlip pliers open up the clip in the centre of the CV
pull off CV joint and boot
fit new boot and push on cv joint
fill joint with grease (usually supplied with CV joint kit)
fit new clips onto the boot (usually supplied with CV joint kit)
refit it as it was removed.
clean off brake discs
refit hub nut with new split pin (usually supplied with CV joint kit)
job done

typical cost: cv joint £35 with a £7 surcharge for old item.
