My schmidts have been on the car over a week now. come to wash them and theres tiny specks "like a dirt residue" on the wheels. ecspecially on the dish and fronts.

Washed them, Polished them, and also used rimwax on them. No luck. i cant even remove it with my finger tip.

Anyway basically need advice on how to sort this problem and tips for cleaning these types of wheels. (chrome/polish)

Cheers

I use TurtleWax Silver Chrome and they shine like a star

What do you clean them with though because I have a problem removing the brake dust. I shall try Meguiars All-Wheels cleaner.

How does the brake dust appear on your wheels mate?

and the shining aint the problem,as the polish and wax sorts that out. its just these rash marks over them., that i cant get rid of.

Normal black dust (usual pad stuff) which sticks to the wheel like tar spots. I don't get those rash marks though. Mine are Kruz Chrome wheels not Schmidt.

Did you try chrome polish? Such as Autoglym or maybe the one I recommended. What ever you do, do not touch them with any stainless or chrome cleaning stuff that is used in kitchens.

What it is mate the wheels are bare metal, id be tempted to get them laqued the you wont have to worry about salts and things attacking at the metal.

isn't autosol abrasive? I used it to polish aluminium wheels after I refurbished them but never tried them on chrome. I fear it would have scratched them.

Can anyone suggest a special cloth to polish the wheels with? I use a common soft cloth usually.

Cheers guys!

3hours with the autosol and most of it has gone. Just needs a hour or two again. plus a coat of wax.

Really dont know whats caused it thought. Its either the salt in the roads, as im pretty sure its been down recently. or edition38 seem to think that its acid marks from the wheel cleaner that has burt the alloy from being sprayed on.

Either way there coming off till weather gets better +main shows start.- june-september
