look at your coolant while engine is running if it is bubbling i would investigate further for headgasket, also remove the oil filler cap place your hand just above it while the engine is running and feel if there is any blow back (air blowing up onto your hand) if there is i would take a look at your piston rings thick white smoke is commonly associated with head gasket or piston rings, hope you find the problem soon buddy

How much oil do u have in it? know this sounds daft but u never know!

My mates XE nova track car had the EXACT same symptoms as the 1 in question.
Turns out it was the oil ways under the rocker cover were blocked to fuk.Had to do the breather mod and after that all was fine.
Are u getting any oil coming out the TB and the surrounding area??
