1st driver - Dad / Mam
2nd driver - You?!
Car registered to?!
I done this for my first year of driving, but I registered the car in my dads name, he insured it with me as named driver but was paid on his credit card which I then repayed!
They are trying to clamp down on this, probs why you been caught out!
Change insurer, get dad to pay, you pay him and registered in his name if you really can't insure it yourself

covering their own backs tbh. they said it will happen and they've just carried out they're threat of cancelling insurance.
as said, register the car in your dads name, get him as the main driver and pay with his credit card and pay him back

Quite a lot of insurers are starting to say that the youngest driver on a policy must be the policy holder.

Was with Liverpool Victoria.
Ive managed to find a new policy £1050 in my own name with Endsleigh.
Will I be entitled to my deposit that is outstanding back from Liv Vic?

You should get your deposit back, but who knows with these insurance companies.
£1050 sounds much much more reasonable for you on it.

parents paying for your insurance indicates theyre helping you out etc, you paying your parents insurance indicates you're fronting

I'm doing the same right now and have done for about 3 years;
-I'm the owner of the vehicle (my name on logbook)
-My dad the main driver and me as a named driver.
My sport at 17 cost me £985 to insure that way
Try Elephant.co.uk- that's who I've been with for the last 3 years

Read the small print. You'll often find the name on the logbook has to be the first driver on the insurance.
In other words, you insurance was void.

I think the idea is that the premium charged for it being insured in your parents name but with yourself using the car on a regular basis does not represent the true risk of the insurance. i.e the underwriters base the premium on the policyholder (parents) being the main user of the vehicle not yourself (young driver)
As for the deposit, it is 20% of the overall premium taken as deposit and so you will be entitled to a pro rata refund from what you have paid less the time on cover.

im not the the registered owner of my corsa, yet im the first (and only) driver on the insurance, and that aint void,

That's kind of what I did, the car and ins are in my name, but it went on my mum's credit card, and when my loan money came through I transferred it to her online and she paid it off.
Next year I'll pay outright though
Give one of the companies you get a discount from by being a premium member mate, I found out that if I'd have put and exhaust and air filter on my car (this is my first year - 0 ncb) then went with Adrian Flux, I would have saved £200, and that's including buying the mods. Plus with one of the specialist insurers, you know that your mods are covered.
I paid £1300 this year, but I put into Adrian Flux that I have a backbox, air filter and lowered suspension, and it was just under £900
