2. Either Samsung or Sony pref, but if any others are as good then lets see them!!!
3. must be 1080p

According to the Gadget Show marathon that was just on "fiver" there was a JVC which was 1080p, and was their fave FULL HD for under £1,000. (£999)
A phillips won the overall thing, wasn't 1080p tho (£749)
Both were 47"

Panasonic are good and Sony are alright, but the Samsung R7 series is very good, and what I'm going to get when I can afford it
If you want 1080p then you'll need a big screen size, anything above 36" will probably do it.
My mate has a 32" Samsung R7 and it's excellent from what I've seen, great picture and it swivels.
You can tell if it's an R7 because the model number is something like BN36R7LE, but replace the 36 with the screen size. The letters might not be exactly that but it's similar. Hope that helps and isn't too confusing

No probs mate
I think you can get Samsung R7's on the Dixons website, they usually have good prices too. Better than Comet and Curry's, even though they're the same company.
My TV isn't even widescreen hence why I need to get a new one
