I cant plug the aerial in because the cable is too short. Also the headunit now turns off if i remove the key from the car and just beeps when i try to turn it on again.
Any help?
Also is it nessesary to remove the negative wire from the battery or not?

The Arial can be a pig to get in, mine was very short on my corsa B...Youve got 2 options:
1) Struggle to plug it in with the CD player partly in the dash so it closer
or
2) The metal plug on the end of the cable is just an adaptor, you can pull it off and replace it with one with a length of cable on (from halfords etc) to give it more length
With this wiring arrangement the CD Player will only work with the key in the ignition unfortunately. And as for the battery, I havent bothered recently when playing with my CD Player and I've had no problems*

But it wont forget the settings like this?
And also is there a way to have it so that it does play without the key in?
I cant get the aerial back in so i guess ill get an adapter. Having problems getting the unit back in now though.

Yeh it should remember yours settings now.
In order to have the unit rembember your settings AND turn on without the key you will need to have both red and yellow on the CD player side plugged into the car's Permanent live (i'm not sure which colour is which).
I'd suggest try plugging both Red and Yellow into the double end on the yellow cable that can be seen in the first pic. If that doesnt work then put it back to how it is now.
As for getting the unit back in, space behind there is tight so what you need to do is just push as much wiring out of the way before you put the unit in and try to get your hand behind the unit as your pushing it in to clear a way for it
