my xe corsa has just developed a lumpy idle and it cuts out when i dip the clutch.
am i right in thinking this is the Idle Control Valve. can this be cleaned up or does it need replacing?

Yesh sounds like textbook ICV problem.
If you remove it, and try and open the moving part manually, it should open all the way.
If not, could be muck, Can try carb cleaner/petrol soaking to remove any dirt or gunk preventing this then try to again.
If that doesnt help, new ICV is the way to go.

ok, so ive cleaned it out and its a bit better, but its still hunting for the revs.
i played around and removed this pipe, which made the engine settle back down to normal.

i noticed there was a split in the pipe, so i replaced it with the clear one in the pic (not the best one for the job, but it was all i could find lying around).
however it is still doing the same thing, can anyone help me??

Possibly an air leak somewhere then mate, start checking the hoses on the inlet manifold/throttlebody and check for air leakage around the inlet manifold gasket

okay, more developments.
after doing a bit of searching, i realised it wasnt actually the ICV i had cleaned, i had assumed that the smaller butterfly valve in the TB was the ICV and cleaned that.

now im pretty sure this ^^ is the ICV, tell me im right this time, please
so, i removed the REAL ICV and checked it out and cleaned it

the bit inside the valve ^^ was jammed solid, so does this mean i need a new one?
wheres the best place to get one, Autovaux?
