Drew,
How would you suggest closing down IE?
There are functions associated with the onUnload, onLoad and onKeyDown events, the latter capturing the Alt+F4 key combination or Ctrl+Alt+Del.
AFAIK, the only way to prevent it is to either not click or disable JavaScript.
You might be lucky and get the Task Manager to appear before all the instances of IE overload it - from there you can kill all your IE processes, but you'll lose all your other open windows.
It's not designed to be subverted by conventional methods.

Then you're lucky.
I've tried it in the past on Win 9x, Win2K and WinXP platforms and all have done the same - caused a headache.

what u do is, ctrl alt del,
and u end task the first window.
wait till the end task box comes up, and ur sorted,
but it refreshes the windows, so u lose all other windows!

IntaCepta - pressing ctrl, alt, F4 or del will trigger the dialogue box/alert message, which gets in the way and slows you down by which time, more windows will have been spawned.
True, you can kill it by being quick and getting the first window - but that's not as easy as it sounds.
