That's awesome - I like how some people have proper cars for the job, and others are just giving their standard car COMPLETE death

that is the joy of this sport deano!

the competition is split into different clases, so the mini's arent against the Subaru!

Class A: Vintage
B: cars with a engine cc under 1400
C: cars with a engine cc 1400-2000
D: cars with a engine cap over 2000/turbo'd
E: RWD cars

turn up in any car and race it through death!

only restriction is it must be road legal (MOT) taxed and insured checked at the start of the day - then the only practical change you can make is the wheels for some racing slicks!!

results

its a great day even if i came 15/17 in class and 42/44 overall!!

tbh, there should be a 1000cc class and under

Also, why would a car have to be insured? It wouldn't be valid anyway.

why?
simple. this sort of motor sport is based at the amateur driver and NOT the advanced drivers. as such the car being raced and entered must be driven to the event thus eliminating special track spec cars being trailored to the event and entered. as such to be driven to the event the car must have valid MOT, insurance and tax.

i agree the insurance would not be valid during the event but must be shown at the start of the day. when the car is scrutinised by the marshalls to ensure the car is in fit state to enter, the MOT, insurance, and tax are checked. its all part of the joy of the sport that the cars entered are no more advanced than is legally allowed on the road and as mentioned you see the Elise vs Micra!
