Sorry for the late reply as I went round to my mates to see his dads lotus exige.
Took me out in it.
Very quick. Looks gorgeous.
Anyway.
Took the cpu out and it doesnt cut out.
So i'm guessing its the cpu.
Gonne ring the company 2moro.

What power output is your PSU? You need 300W at least to run an AMD. I've seen 220 an 250W PSU's do exactly what you are experiencing.

Latest update.
Got a new cpu and cooler.
Just did exactly the same.
I've narrowed it down to the motherboard or the power supply.
psu is 350W so its not underpowered.
Gonna take it to the shop on friday.
All the way to Newcastle from Carlisle just to make sure it works before I get it all home again.

Dont slate the spec as its just something cheap i'm building for someone.

this happened to me about a month ago when upgrading a friends computer. After looking at the mobo website (it too was a gigabyte) i found out the mobo turns the computer off if the cpu gets too hot. It turned out the heatsink had 2 layers that I had to take off to get to the thermal pad (god knows why  )
The mobo/cpu/heatsink kit, is it one you put together or cam pre-assembled?

I put it together.
I removed the strip on the undersode of the heatsink.
Theres just 1 layer.
