You can have the best handling car around and still get beat, it is at the end of the day the driver that makes the difference

there like all cars, some are better than others and then you have the drivers.

my mates vtr is crap on the country lanes and i can beat him quite easily.
but my other mate has a vts and his handles completely different and i struggle to keep up with him.

all down to the car and the driver

I was like that when I first got my gti... thought 'My corsa felt better than this' - but it's to do with the way you drive them, you have to be 100% committed i.e. keep on the throttle and never lift despite say the corner tightening or car feeling 'twitchy'

the reason they feel twitchy is because they'll oversteer more than understeer and thus will actually go around a corner, where as a corsa (I know you drive a punto though) feels stable, but you push too hard in the bend and it'll understeer out and then you'll be screwed.

As a result you put a badger in the VTS who isn't committed and is lifting off all the time and put a good driver in the corsa and it's no wonder the corsa was sitting on the VTS's arse through the twisties.

To me Corsa's can't make up there mind when it comes to corners, as if i'm 100% round a lets say a roundabout in the dry, my backend slides, but if it's wet and i'm off the throttle it goes straight on a roundabout, and I feel i'm gonna slide of the road.

I'm not quite sure how it does it, I know all the shocks were fucked, but i'm replacing them at the moment at college, just need to fix my engine til I put the rears on, but I don't think that would cause it, can anyone know how the fuck me Corsa has done it?

lol....
the cans been opened again

my corsa is appauling, it understeers at the slightest sign of moisture on the road.

from my experience though, i found a standard Zetec-S (mk5) to be a lot better handling than any standard saxo/peugeot.

People just need to invest in a decent suspension setup

My corsa handles very good, never had it come out on me and it can take a corner quite quick, its not just the suspension either get some decent tyres.

True, I agree there, suspension setup and the grip your tires can take, me I have Admiral (second brand name for Kumho tires) and they do not grip very well in the wet, and are good in the dry if i'm not pushing the car( that's the problem when you don't get much cash).

Aye, thats the thing to remember. Never lift off mid bend unless you want to change your view of the road
